Jeremiah Patterson lives and works in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. He teaches painting and drawing as a Professor of Foundations at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford in West Hartford CT.
Jeremiah Patterson’s paintings and drawings have been exhibited throughout the United States, including six one-person shows at the Sherry French Gallery in New York City. His work has also been selected for a variety of prestigious group exhibition surveys of watercolor, contemporary realism & representational art including the highly respected exhibitions Marche d’Acqua 2020 at the Museum of Papermaking and Watermark in Fabriano, Italy, Representing Representation V & Representing Representation VI held biennially at the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira, NY and Contemporary American Realism at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Fort Wayne, IN. His work has also been included in over 100 group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad including shows at the Sherry French Gallery, Arkansas Art Center Museum, Albright-Knox Art Museum, the Flint Museum of Art, The Connecticut River Museum, the Wisteriahurst Museum, the Ridderhof-Martin Museum at Mary Washington College, Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Westfield State College, Anna-Maria College, Elms College, Collin County Community College in Texas, M.A. Doran Gallery in Tulsa OK, Klaudia Marr Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, Elm Tree Gallery in Franklin TN, and William Baczek Fine Arts in Northampton, MA. His work can be found in over 100 private and corporate collections.
Two major articles about his still life paintings have been published in the Spring 1997 & 2003 issues of American Artist’s WATERCOLOR Magazine. A major article about his plein-air landscapes was published in the February/March 2014 issue of Plein-Air Magazine.
Jeremiah also co-directs Summer Workshops in Italy, a joint venture with his friend and fellow artist Fred Wessel, in which they lead small groups to Italy each summer to study their techniques of watercolor & egg tempera painting, silverpoint drawing and other Renaissance methods and techniques. These workshops have attracted participants from Canada, Mexico, England, Australia, Greece, and throughout the United States.
